Time is a valuable resource, and when content creation is your part-time activity, it should only take up so much space, and not remove the possibility for you to enjoy your life.
So, why not get as effective as possible at writing the most valuable content, so you can both be proud of the work you’ve done and enjoy some free time?
I have struggled a lot, balancing the demands of consistent content creation.
I have been close to burning out and giving up multiple times.
You don’t have to be active all the time
I often see other creators becoming stressed, because they feel like they have to be active all the time.
Writing 100 replies, writing 10 posts a day, being everywhere all the time.
Here are 5 self-destructive standards I try not to follow daily:
You must write 10 posts a day
You must write 100 replies a day
You must write 1.000 words a day
You must write quality content all the time
You must answer every comment right away
But, imagine if this wasn’t necessary.
Imagine your week where you can relax in the evenings and weekends, and fit content creation seamlessly into your life.
Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Batch create content
Setting aside one day, where you brainstorm, outline, and write all or most of your content for the week turns content creation from a daily chore into a once-a-week hyper-productive work session.
So, pick a day. Sit down, and don’t get up before you’ve created content for the entire week.
Step 2: Write by theme
One mistake a lot of content creators make is that they think all pieces of content have to play off a new idea. This is not true.
One idea can be explained and laid out in many ways.
One of the strongest examples of this that comes to mind is the creator Dan Koe, who aside from writing a lot, seems to be writing about a new topic every week, and his content is often framed around that topic.
He shares different points and examples on the topic and he’s always focused on how they're useful to him and his audience.
By writing around a theme you’re not only getting deeper into a topic, and learning more about it, but, you’re also making it easier for yourself to come up with a dozen fresh ideas every week.
Step 3: Repurpose content
One piece of content can become many.
You can turn a short-form post into a newsletter or blog post, into an episode of a podcast, a YouTube video or several social media posts.
Think about the many more ways you can explore the topic and dive deeper into it.
This multiplies your content output, and it also means you don’t have to start from scratch every week.
These 3 strategies highlight the importance of working smarter, not harder.
They are meant to increase your productivity, allow you to enjoy your life outside of content creation, and be more present where you are in what you’re doing.
